Will Beautify Potter’s Field
To Plant Flowers, Grass and Shrubbery at Old Section of Grounds
Potter’s Field, which has long been an eyesore at this cemetery, will become a thing of beauty under the direction of the Park and Cemetery Board which met last night at the city hall. The old section will be leveled and grass, flowers and shrubbery will be planted.
The board further authorized the policing of the city parks to keep the children from molesting the flower beds and from tearing up the lawn. Centennial and Kollen Parks have been receiving the worst treatment it was pointed out.
The Commissioners raised the rates for removal of bodies from the cemetery from $6.00, which is the cost of burial, to $10.00. This change was made as extra work is necessary to fill the empty grave. The balance of the meeting was taken up with discussion of plans for the new comfort station to be erected this summer at Kollen Park.
